Culture Minister Meets Officials of Fadjr International Theater Festival

Festival Must Inject Happiness into Society

Seyed Abbas Salehi, minister of culture and Islamic guidance, visited the organizers of the 36th Fadjr International Theater Festival on the opening day on Thursday, saying that the festival must prioritize injecting joy into the society.

"We should exert efforts to make people happier and this is a job can be done by the Fadjr Theater Festival," he stressed.

Mohammad Mojtaba Hosseini, deputy culture minister for artistics affairs, also accompanied the minister to the secretariat of the festival to be briefed on the latest developments on the event.  

Mahdi Shafiee, director general of the Dramatic Arts Center, and Farhad Mohandespour, director of the festival, briefed the minister on the 36th festival.

Minister stressed that art and culture could add to the happiness of the society as the nation had experienced tragic incidents recently such as earthquake in Kermanshah and the burning of Iranian oil tankers and its sinking after days of fire (hundreds of Iranians died in both accidents).

"Given that the wounds of these social accidents are still fresh in the hearts of Iranians, the Fadjr Theater Festival has a short time to help inject jot into the society," Salehi said.  

The festival was opened on January 18 and will close on January 29 in Tehran.
