I got my original idea from a short note

IranTheater- Hamed Soleimanzadeh  , director of Being Mao, said he got the original idea of being Mao after he read a short note in a social network.

Hamed Soleimanzadeh is a Senior student in doctoral research in art , advanced study of cinema . He is also university professor. He has "Being Mao" at the main hall of the Molavai Theater Complex.

He said about writing this play:” When I read Mao's slaughter massacre in the note, I decided to take the story of this popular Chinese dictator. It was very interesting to me that first of all the dictators saw the wings of those who are flying, and in that story, the sparrow is an allegory of a flying act. However, with my extensive research, I discovered more mysterious about Mao’s character and I got to know him better. I tried to design a monologue in terms of performance. The original style of the work is the performance monologue, which, of course, has a great place in the theater of the West. The combination of words and silence was my most important concern in the creation of this work, and all the Mise-en-scène are designed accordingly.”

Mao Zedong[a] (December 26, 1893 – September 9, 1976), commonly known as Chairman Mao, was a Chinese communist revolutionary who became the founding father of the People's Republic of China, which he ruled as the Chairman of the Communist Party of China from its establishment in 1949 until his death in 1976. His theories, military strategies, and political policies are collectively known as Maoism.

Hamed Soliemanzadeh previously directed some play such as “Love is wearing red” and “Hamlet and you”. He said about rehearsal process:” The training took about 6 months with a group of nearly thirty people .. Of course, the story discovery process lasted more than a year.

He also pointed out the coincidence of the performance of the show " Being Mao" during the holy month of Ramadan, saying: Despite this synchronization, I see more or less academic figures among  the audience . Professors, researchers and students have interested .They ‘ve had  different  point of views. It is hoped that Being Mao will remain in the historical memory of the Molavai Theater Complex, which I consider to be the most important student and university forum in the country.”
