Iran Theater-Maryam  Fallah: When you ask about  old-fashioned Tehran, all the roads end to one person and the works written by him. Every lasting drama about Old Tehran, from the theater to film and television series and documentary films, inevitably has touch of him. Sometimes the pioneer of the theater and cinema selects the texts of his writings as dialogues of their characters. So much so that his  characters are real and his texts are intact.

Jafar Shahri, A phenomenon in contemporary Iranian historiography, which almost all of today's knowledge of Tehran in the last century comes from its writings. Particularly the two great collections of "Tehran's Social History in the Thirteenth Century: Life, Business" and "Tehran Old" became an important part of our awareness of Qajar  dynasty and the first Pahlavi world of dramatic texts. Essentially, what he brought in his books is not seen in other writings.

Ali BlookBashi has fond his works-from story to Histotical and social Research- as treasures of data about history and Culture of traditional Tehran in transition to Modernity.

 In the article "Modernism and Modernity in Iran” " in the introduction and critique of two urban works, bitter sugar and old Tehran, Abbas Milani Fond  fewer  memories books   like bitter sugar and old Tehran. According to Milani, these two books, the Encyclopedia of Culture and the Slang of the People of Tehran by the distinguished scholar , Jafar Shahri,,  comperad to Amsal and Hekam By Dehkhoda.

Jafar Shahri and the value of his great works have not been recognized as deserving.

Knowing of how a person such as Jafar Shahri has been able to record and narrate such details of the life and culture of the people of Tehran in a century ago can be an important topic; since scholars and lovers of his writings, as well as opponents of such a method of historiography,  can learn about his method of Collecting information and writting articles Nasrallah Haddadi, a researcher and a Tehran scientist, has been able to provide an image of this great historian of culture and life in ancient Tehran,  because of years of friendship with Jafar Shahri.

Jafar Shahri(Born: 1914, Oudlajan-Died: November 27, 1999, Tehran).He was an Iranian writer and scholar of Tehran history. He grew up in poverty and managed to succeed.
