Officials, Dubai-Based Iranians Enthusiastic for “The Empty Frame of the Moon”

Yaghoub Seddigh-Jamali, director of “Ghabe Khali Mah (The Empty Frame of the Moon)”, said the drama, which was staged in Dubai on Dec. 29-30, garnered huge enthusiasm from Iranian expatriates and Iran’s cultural and diplomatic missions in the Arab sheikholdom.

Seddigh-Jamali told Iran Theater website in Dubai the performance was staged concurrent with the New Christian Year, which helped the audience welcome the play significantly.
He said the play was performed in the UAE upon an invitation from Iran’s cultural attache and the club of Dubai-based Iranians and it did not take part in the festival or competition.
It was a closing program arranged by the cultural attache and the group received gifts, too.
Referring that the drama was performed in the spacious hall of the Iranian club in Dubai, Seddigh-Jamali said that Dubai-based groups were active in theatrical fields in the United Arab Emirates, producing their plays in the club.
“Meetings were held in the UAE for the artists to share views artistically and intellectually,” the director said.
Seddigh-Jamali said he presented some of his plays to the young Dubai-based Iranian theatrical groups as gift.
On Dubai-based Iranian groups, the director explained that the theater circle had significants activities in the country and produced excellent masterworks for children and young adults, puppet shows and social-themed plays.
He introduced his colleagues in “The Empty Frame of the Moon” as a 16-member group from the East Azerbaijan province in northwestern Iran as well as “Kotal” Group from Tabriz. Some members of the group included Hamed Manafi, Bahar Karimzadeh, Amir Hejazi, Saeedeh Hamed, Siamak Afsaee, Abbas Zare’-Seresht and Zeinab Asnaghi.
Vahid Behbodi and Hamed Bahavari were assistant directors and Saeed Najafian production manager.
This was the third performance of Tabriz’s “Kotal” Group during the current Iranian year to end in March, 2012. The group have earlier performed “Arash”, written by Bahram Baizaei and directed by Seddigh-Jamali in Dushanbe and Khujand in Tajikistan as well as “Saray”, written and directed by Seddigh-Jamali in Ankara’s 16th International Theater Festival.
