Importance of Knowing Color in Iranian Plays

Forough Yazdan, Costume Designer of “Uncle Norowz and Haji Firouz” emphasizes of research, scientific and importance of knowing color in designing costumes for Iranian plays.

Iran Theatre- Forough Yazdan, Actress and Costume Designer of “Uncle Norowz and Haji Firouz” directed by Javad Ensafi, which is being performed in Sangelaj Theatre Hall said: “Knowing color and selecting costumes for characters are so important in Iranian plays. Colors must be chosen among shinning happy colors and must be also harmonized based on artistic principles.”

 “Costume designing of “Uncle Norowz and Haji Firouz” is mix of different decades of history; because Iranians used long dresses with short collards and a shawl on back like belt from Achaemenian to Qajar era. “Yazdan added.

 “For collecting information about Norowz and presenting the research in form of book or a drama I traveled to different countries with my husband Javad Ensafi and I became familiar with different cultures and costumes of them in these trips.” the artist said.

Uncle Norowz and Haji Firouz are two characters from popular culture and related to New Year’s celebration which is being celebrated in Iran and some other countries.

 “Uncle Norowz and Haji Firouz” is being performed every night at 6:30 p.m. in Sangelaj Theatre Hall.
