Habib Dehghannasab in Evaluation of Razavi Theater Festival:

Supports Will Enrich Festivals

Many artists believe that holding theater festivals in cities other than Tehran would have positive outcomes.

Habib Dehghannasab, who played in “A Comedy Like Murder,” a satire by Hossein Kiani recently, said that decentralization of theater festivals was a very positive move and the officials should keep on the good work.

“Such move will improve the cultural welfare of the nation,” he said and added, “If all festivals are hosted by Tehran, other regions would be deprived of the art as it has been the trend for many regions, which have been deprived of real theater.”

Mr Dehghannasab, an actor of “Sim Hout”, said that Razavi Theater Festival, which is hosted by North Khorasan province, and children and young adults festivals in Hamedan or Isfahan can help improve the country’s theater.

Those taking part in the theater festivals endure many financial and intellectual difficulties, public performances could be a reward for them, he insisted.

“Festivals must be welcomed by the local artists and people initially,” the actor said, urging that transparent information must be disseminated to make locals familiar with the objectives and incentives of each festival.

Such moves could help theater groups to understand what supports and facilities they would receive and such assistances would enrich the festivals, Mr Dehghannasab said.

“It would be great that Razavi Theater Festival in North Khorasan province would have domestic and side sections in which guests and veterans would take part,” he said and added, “One of the best ways to enrich the festival is to stay away of propaganda…and repetition.”
