An Artist, a Source of Goodness

Valuable Legacy of Javad Zolfaghari Unveiled

An exhibition, “In the Memory of Master” including photos and puppets of Javad Zolfaghari opened on Tuesday at the lobby of City Theater.

The ceremony was started by Shadi Pourmehdi, irantheater.ir reported.

Describing Javad Zolfaghari as a source of good omen, she said that although Mr Zolfaghari passed away, he was a source of goodness, making the artists got together here.

Pourmehdi added that Zolfaghari was the founder of Safir Magazine, which had been positive for puppetry artists and still continues.

Refering to the exhibition as valuable, Pourmehdi hoped that the artists would walk in his path and be a source of goodness.

Marzieh Borounamd said that she got familiar with Mr Zolfaghari in the field of puppetry, adding that she had cooperated with him in festival and programs, sharing good memories. “Mr Zolfaghari’s legacy is valuable.”   

The secretary of the Mobarak-Tehran 16th International Puppet Festival thanked Maryam Moeini and Amir Esbati for the execution and design of the exhibition.

Mansoureh Azari, the wife of Javad Zolfaghari, said that he devoted a lot to make the puppets.

Also, Fatemeh Motamedaria, theater and puppet show actress, expressed satisfaction who was among her colleagues.

“Zolfaghari loved the puppets and insisted us to be kind with each other. He imposed his spirit upon us through his puppets,” she said.

Donya Fanizadeh wished puppetry to be alive.

The works on display in the exhibition are selected by Maryam Moeini and they are set up by Amir Esbati.

The puppets of “Ali Baba and 40 Thieves of Baghdad”, “Samake Ayyar”, “Siavosh and Farangis”, “Wolf & Boy Game” and “Boze Zangouleh Pa” are on display.

The puppets have been designed by artists like Marzieh Mahjoub, Ali Pakdest and Maryam Eqbali.

Mehdi Shafie, Payman Shariati, Zahra Sabri, Amir Esbati, Maryam Moeini, Ali Pakdast, Fariba Raesi, Atabak Naderi and Afsaneh Zamani were present at the ceremony.
