An Interview with Neda Qorbanian about “Why Did Nazi Fly?”

Closeness of Alborz & Tehran Provinces Not Good for Province's Theater

Neda Qorbanian, director of “Why Did Nazi Fly?” has taken part in the conference of top works of theater festivals of provinces. She explained about details of her show.

“Why Did Nazi Fly?”, which is taking part in the festival from Alborz province, tells a fantasy in the animal world.

Ms Qorbanian talked about different style of this show with her other works, saying that she had always wished to have new experiences in her career and perform each play differently.

“I directed a show lat year, which was naturalistic in direction and design,” she said. “I experienced another show two years ago, which was absurd.”

“Why Did Nazi Fly?” has fantasy while the characters are animals instead of humans, the director said.

“The story of the show is set in a farm, which hens are colonized. A scarecrow mediates between humans and animals. The main character of this show is a hen, which flies contrary to others,” Ms Qorbanian said.

She said that the video of her show, which was submitted to the conference for judgement, was not of high quality because it was taken immediately after Theater Festival of Alborz Province.

On “Always Theater” plan and other ones, which offer financial supports to theatrical troupes, Qorbanian said that such plans were very good but the point was that they had to be carried out in practice to bear fruits.

The director said that closeness of Alborz province to Tehran province was in the disadvantage of its theater.

“Those in other provinces have larger audience. But residents of Karaj prefer to go to underground station to come to Tehran to watch theater shows rather than seeing shows in Karaj,” she argued, adding that this is while it was not easy for directors of the province to take auditoriums in Tehran for performing their shows.
