“New Method of Performance” Important
Mehrdad Rayani-Makhsous, director of Dramatic Arts Center for international affairs, said that new methods of performances and employment of modern technology were yardsticks for selection of works, adding that diversity of performances would help meet needs of theater society and place challenges to the audience.
On 19 participants of the international section, Mr Rayani-Makhsous said that they were chasing new definitions in performing arts and Fadjr Theater Festival was one of the focal points to introduce such works for theater lovers, irantheater.ir reported.
“We should observe today’s modern art of the world and think about them deeply,” he said, stressing that observation of such pieces would help getting familiar with, criticizing and challenging them.
The researcher of performing arts referred to positive and negative currents for and against the international sections as two conflicting views among spectators.
Some audience support performances of international pieces while others were against participation of them in the Fadjr Theater Festival, the official explained.
Mr Rayani-Makhsous added that new generation of Iran theater positively look performances of foreign pieces in the festival while the former generation was not favored such shows.
This conflict of views had created a fruitful challenge among two generations of theater, causing development of theater in the current age, the official said, insisting that the center welcome such challenges.
He stressed that some pieces of the international section could not be classified as theater but they could be performing arts and theater goers should limit their expectations on the category each work belongs.
