Theater Budget to Double

Mr Salehi Amiri stressed that theater budget would be doubled in the next Iranian year (to start on March 20), icreasing 10bn tomans.

He said that the young talents made a remarkable comeback to theater and that was incredible for the theater. "We decided to bolster theater infrastructure through doubling the budget in 96 (next Iranian year)."

The minister that theater developed everywhere in the country as the country had 20 performances each night four years ago but it increased to 90 to 120 ones every night.

Mr Salehi Amiri said that his cultural policies would be in compliance with the views of the supreme leader, insisting that moderation in culture based on four themes of cultural reasonability, cultural unity and diversification and cultural piety.

Referring to the importance of preservation of stability and peace in culture, the minister said that culture could not develop under stress and in tension.

He called on the press members to help ministry to preserve peace and stability in the field.

Mr Amiri Salehi said that all school of thoughts and culture would equally be treated in his ministry, stressing that he would follow the peace of mind of men of pen and help secure freedom of expression.
