A Look at Pieces in Last Persian Year

Top Seller Shows

Iran Theater: The report is going to introduce the top-selling theatre pieces of the last Persian year, which ended on March 20. It will introduce pieces performed in the City Theatre Complex, Vahdat Hall, Iranshahr Theatre Complex of the Theatre Office last year.

It should certainly be claimed that Iran theatre experienced growth in the last Persian year. Majority of noted theatre figures staged pieces. Most halls were sold out and many shows witnessed huge spectators. The performance of many successful pieces extended.

The following report will introduce the top-sellers of the last Iranian year except for the last ten days.

The City Theatre Complex includes main hall, Charsou, Sayeh and Plateau. The 579-seat main auditorium’s top seller was “Majlese Zarbatzadan”, which was directed by Mohammad Rahmanian and written by Bahram Beizaei. The piece grossed 670,210,000 tomans in 25 performances.

“Tapanche Khanoum”, which was written by Mohammad Amir Yarahmadi and directed by Shahabeddin Hosseinpour, was the top seller in Charsou Hall. It sold 140,047,500 tomans in 50 days.

Sayeh Hall’s top seller was “Rainless Days”. It was written and directed by Amin Behrouzi. It sold 42,185,000 tomans in more than a month.

“Shelther”, which was directed by Amin Miri, was top seller in Qashqaei Hall. It grossed 32,378,000 tomans in less than a month.

“Sepanje Ranje Shekanj”, which was written by the late Mahmoud Ostadmohamad and directed by Shahram Gilabadi, sold 14,859,000 tomans in Plateau Hall in about a month.

 

Vahdat Hall’s top seller was “Mississippi Dies Seated”. The piece, which was directed by Homayoun Ghanizadeh, has a record of the country’s top selling show of Iran theatre.  

The piece grossed more than 2bn tomans with a cast including Vishka Asayesh, Sajjad Afsharian, Babak Hamidian, Siamak Safari and Dariush Movafagh.

Iranshahr Theatre Complex hosted pieces like “Can’t Pay? Won’t Pay!”, “The Gardner of Death”, “Incident at Vichy” and “Diabolic, Romeo & Juliet”.

“Can’t Pay? Won’t Pay!”, which was directed by Hadi Amel and written by Dario Fo, sold 64,673,000 tomans with 23 shows.

“The Gardner of Death”, which was directed by Arvand Dashtaray, sold 41,395,000 tomans in 24 shows.

“Incident at Vichy”, which was directed by Manijeh Mohamedi, sold 41,607,000 tomans in 23 shows.

“Diabolic, Romeo and Juliet”, grossed 458,795,000 tomans in 43 shows.

It should be said the latter was the top seller of Iranshahr Theatre Complex.
