MPs Come to Theater

Tayebeh Siavashi and Mahmoud Sadeghi, Tehran MPs, watched 'Seven PM of 7th Autumn'.

Ayoub Aghakhani, who is the director of 'Seven PM of 7th Autumn', urged that more connection and solidarity among politicians and members of art community would help safeguard the legacy of the Sacred Defense (Iran-Iraq war in 1980 is known in Iran as sacred defense because Iraqi dictator invaded Iran.)

The director said that he felt obliged to picture the Sacred Defense to give an insight of the Sacred Defense as a part of the country's contemporary history to the youth and adolescents, Iran Theater reported.

Mr Aghakhani, a university teacher, expressed concerns that those youngsters who were born in 1990s were disconnected with the events of the eight-year bitter war.

"It is often seen that the individuals and bodies who are responsible about this act irresponsibly and negligently," regretted the director.

Ms Siavashi said that she was interested in the art products featuring the Sacred Defense and the imposed war, stressing the necessity for the young generation to be acquainted with the eight-year war, which is part of Iran history and the braveries of Iranian commanders and soldiers, particularly though the language of art.  

The lawmaker, who is a member of the parliament cultural commission, said that books on the Sacred Defense could influence the youth surely but it should be considered whether books could make them familiar with the bitter war better or a dramatic performance.

Ms Siavashi said that she would try to watch at least one play per month, explaining that she would endeavor to be a professional audience of the performing arts to not only enjoy it but also have a close picture of developments in the field of theater.

Mr Sadeghi thanked the cast and crew of 'Seven PM of 7th Autumn' in picturing the hero of war artistically, saying that the piece could feature the life of martyr Jahanara very well with back and forth to today and the past.

In response to Mr Aghakhani's demand for the necessity that lawmakers pay due heed to the art of theater, Mr Sadeghi said that it was their responsibility to attend more at theater complexes to know the problems and make better decisions.

'Seven PM of 7th Autumn' is a romance revolving around the life of the national hero of Iran-Iraq war, martyr Mohammad Jahanara. Rahim Nowrouzi and Layla Boloukan star in the play and Mohsen Bahrami is its voice artist.

'Seven PM of 7th Autumn' has performance every day except for Saturdays at Charsou Hall of the City Theater Complex at 19:45.
