Director general of Dramatic Arts Center Closes 29th East Azerbaijan Province Theater Festival:

Theater Proud of Veterans

The 29th East Azerbaijan Province Theater Festival, which opened on September 10, closed on Friday with the participation of 21 dramatic arts performances.

The closing ceremony hosted director general of Dramatic Arts Center (DAC), Mahdi Shafiee, director of DAC's provincial theater affairs, Atabak Naderi, managing director of East Azerbaijan Culture and Islamic Guidance Department, Mohammad Mohammadpour, chairman of the provincial Association of Performing Arts, Babak Nahrein, and a group of theater veterans and artists, Iran Theater reported.  

Two out of 21 performance, which took part in the province, are qualified to take part in the Fadjr International Theater Festival.

Babak Nahrein, who was also secretary of the festival, said at the closing ceremony that unity and solidarity must improve among members of theater family. He expressed gratitude to the organizers of the festival as well as all organizations, officials and theater veterans.

Mahdi Shafiee, DAC's director general, said that the country's theater was proud of its veteran artists, adding that artists could rely on them to reach peaks of success and improve the country's theater.

He thanked the organizers of the festival for paying tribute to veteran artists as a fruitful move.

The awards were given to winners after the speeches. 'Pasha' and 'We're Being Watched' were chosen the best plays of the festival. The plays will compete at the Fadjr International Theater Festival.

Two other winners of the New Experience of the festival 'Malaria Fever' and 'Tonight' will have public performances at the City Theater Complex in Tehran.
