Tinou Salehi to Iran Theater

A Kurdish Tale on Stage Next Year

Iran Theater: Tinou Salehi is an active actor and director of recent years. Tinou Salehi is also teaching direction and acting at Azad Acting Institute, which is run by noted cinema actor Amin Tarokh.

Tinou Salehi holds a master's degree of theater direction from Art and Architecture Faculty. He has either directed or starred at plays such as 'Samaeizadeh', 'Yaftabad', 'Shakheh Nabat', '33', 'Saghi', 'Antigone', 'Kiaresh', Khordad' and 'Mokhtarnameh'.

He had been an assistant to noted directors such as Qotbeddin Sadeghi and Amir Dejakam. He staged 'Plague' at Iranshahr Theater Complex last year.

He told Iran Theater that he was staring at 'Polanski', which is directed by Mohammad Miraliakbari, at Paliz Theater Complex.

About his role in 'Polanski', Salehi said he was playing two characters in the show, adding that it has a nonlinear story of the life and works of Roman Polanski, Polish-born American director and actor.

"My first role is the father of the girl who is allegedly raped by Roman Polanski in the US. The father lodges a complaint against the director," Salehi said, adding, "It is the role of Oscar in Polanski's Bitter Moon, which is played by Hugh Grant."

On his new play, Salehi said that he had started rehearsals of 'Evil Omen' with a team of 30 experienced and young actors, adding that it would be a show of numerous characters.

"It is a strange story of an infant child who kills his families. It is inspired by an old Kurdish tale," he explained.

Siamak Adib, Leila Nazarian and Zahra Davoudnejad are among the cast members, he said, adding that the show would be staged at the City Theater Complex in May.

Salehi said that he was interested in plays with many characters despite its difficulties because of its group physical experience.
