Iraj Raad:It is possible to promote human principles in the society with theater

Iran Theater-Iradj Raad (born 1945, Tehran) is an Iranian actor. Akbar Hasani Rad known as Iraj Rad, first appeared in programs for children at the age of 14.He became interested in theater and later graduated from the University of Tehran in Theater. He received his master’s degree in Theater Directing from Cardiff University in the UK.He has directing and acting experience in more than 30 plays and television films in collaboration with groups such as the Iranian Theater Society. He has also gone on stage in England and Germany.Between the years 1973 and 1975, in addition to acting, he wrote and presented a weekly radio program about theater.Rad’s debut as a cinematic actor was in the 'The Postman' (1972).He has starred in many movies such as 'Mina Circle' (1978), 'Tornado' (1985), 'The Tenants' (1986), 'Jafar Khan Returns from Abroad' (1987), 'The Passion of Love' (2000), 'Seven Songs' (2001), and 'Candle in the Wind' (2003).Rad has also appeared in series such as 'Stone and Glass' (1993), 'Under Your Protection' (1995), 'In My Heart' (1998), 'Missing' (1998), 'A Way to Home' (2000), 'The Network' (2002), 'Beguiled' (2002), 'Coast Guard' (2005), 'Zero Degree Turn' (2007), 'Factor 8' (2008), 'Era of Constitutional Revolution' (2009), and 'The Daughters of Eve' (2012).One of his most notable roles was that of "Nassereddin Shah" in 'Amir Kabir' TV series (1985).

. He showed a natural performance as Pahlvan Kachal in”Bongah Theatral” By Ali Nassirian recently. He showed that he was still at the peak of ability at the age of seventy.

In Āmiz Qalamdun by the late Akbar Radi he had a brilliant and underskin performance as Mr.shokohi. Hadi Marzban directed Amiz Qalamdun. It went on Stage one month ago. Āmiz Qalamdun which is one of the most famous Works of Akbar Radi, tells the story of the life of a man and woman who have grown old with lost  wishes. Mr.Shokohi, or Āmiz Qalamdun , has devoted himself to literature and culture  during his life. He spent his entire life with simplicity. He loves art.

In an interview with Iran Theater, he spoke about playing in seven plays by Akbar Radi and the importance of the playwright.

»Akbar Radi is one of the most effective and best contemporary Iranian dramatists. His work can be reviewed in various artistic and social aspects. As an stage actor who cares for Iranian works, I always have the priority of playing in Iranian plays, and it is our duty to take steps towards the promotion of Iranian plays, and Iranian audiences are accustomed to watching more  plays in theaters.«

He agreed that he has reached a common language with Hadi Marzban after years of cooperation.

»Hadi Marzban has often directed Rad's play on stage, and I like marzban’s style.«

He said about the audience's welcome to the play: I have looked at the reactions of the audience over this period. For the middle aged audience, this show was full of sense of nostalgia and memory, and for the younger people, Mr. Shokouhi's behavior has been attractive. He tried to live well and  always believed in the right path. The important thing about the director's loyalty is to make a difference about the importance of being honest in life. Mr. Shokouhi plays to achieve such a great deal of difficulty and discomfort and does not go away from his principles I believe in the theater, by addressing these issues, promote and institutionalize human principles in society.
