Behrouz Gharibpour on Appointment of New Secretary of 36th Fadjr International Theater Festival:

Value of Festival Depends on Final Selection

Behrouz Gharibpour, theater director, author and instructor, told Iran Theater that the newly-appointed secretary of the 36th Fadjr International Theater Festival, Farhad Mohandespour, could continue positive steps taken by previous secretaries to help progress of theater in Iran.

Mr Gharibpour described Fadjr festival as a tribune of Iran's theater, adding that he had liked Mr Mohandespour personally which could influence his judgment of the new secretary. "But a glance at his works shows an inclination towards modern and creative theater, meaning that his approach of the festival might be modern," he said.

Stressing that the approach of the previous two editions of the festival as positive, Mr Gharibpour praised Mr Asadi (secretary of 34th and 35th editions) when he was serving at the portfolio.

He (Mr Asadi) had the enough knowledge and cooperated with theater groups in an amazing way, Mr Gharibpour said, adding that the festival would miss him and it could be better he would have stayed in the post for several more years.

He hoped that Mr Mohandespour could do the job successfully despite that he had been away from management for years.
