Iran Theater- The Show  “The Terrace” is a modern and contemporary work; the play is about people who, while being together, are alone, these characters speak of their hopes, aspirations and concerns, and of the lack of communication.

Massoud Karamati is a stage , T.V and Cinema actor and director. He had a bunch of memorial performances in Children and young adult’s films and directed some children films as well. He has been accepted more stage roles in recent years and directed more shows.

“The Terrace” is  based on Jean-Claude Carrière’s play. Jean-Claude Carrière is a French novelist and playwright. Asghar Noori translated it to Farsi.

About choosing “The Terrace” for directing, he said:  Since Two years ago, I was waiting for an opportunity to direct a show, and on the advice of my friends, I read a lot of plays, and two of three works attracted my attention; one of these play was the war from a Swedish playwrighter and the other was “The Terrace”.

He added: “For over four decades, I have been working in various theaters, cinemas and TVs , and my main concern is the quality of the proposed roles. Acting or directing is my profession. I try to offer the best quality in every thing, and I plan to do so, not accepting any job offer. I like theater and have been studying theater. During our youth, there was a strong credit for Theater, and whenever I go on stage, I become nostalgic about that era.”

Jean-claud carrier wrote the play at 90’s. Karamati believed: “Usually about three to four decades later, any modern phenomenon comes to Iran. Of course  the play was written by him in 1997. The formation of such spaces in European works dates back to the sixties, a period that reminds us of the works of Beckett . Perhaps the reason for the recent appearance of this kind of view is that the  World War II has caused social changes, and And people went more towards individuality, modernism and ethnology, and in the following years, despite their transformation, they kept their essence, and the Iranian audience is also interested in seeing such themes in dramatic works.”
