Maysam Yousefi to Iran Theater:

The audience has its own interpretation

Iran Theater- Meysam Yousefi, a veteran palywright, actor and designer of Iranian show, directs “Nazgol” a musical and somewhat tragic narrative of the story of an Iranian woman in one hundred and one years ago who were behind the walls of Qajri harems in oppression and injustice.

You brought on stage Nazgol three years ago at the Traditional and Ritual Theater Festival. What changes have you made to your current performance?

-Fortunately, Nazgol was acclaimed in the directing section and won awards. The festival performance was in the Black Box Hall of the City  Theater Complex, and now we are performing the show in the Sangelaj  Theater Complex , and this requires changes, especially in lighting methods and Mise-en-scène. A number of new players were added to the cast .

Did you play as an actor in a  performance at festival?

_I played the role of Siah in the festival and Nasser Avijeh will play this role this time.

Can we consider Nazgol a victim of the circumstances and relationships who have to accept such a fate?

-This kind of interpretation must be done by the audiences.  In any case, Nazgol can represent a group of artists who are oppressed and attacked and move steadily and heroically until the end of the story.
