Nasim Taji on the show “House”

I love Iranian Shows

Iran Theater- Nasim Taji, the writer and director of the show "House", said that if theater is an art that leads to thinking, then now is definitely the right time to perform plays.

As a child, She watched the shows with his father, who was an active stage actor in Lalezar street. Her love and passion for working in the theater, especially the Iranian show, was formed in her from those days. Nasim Taji said these about her first experiences with theater.

Now she has written and directed the show "House". A show that hosts audiences these days in the Sangelaj Theater Complex.

What is the theme of the "House"?

It is the story of an undocumented house in which some people settled. Due to the passage of time, this house is collapsing, but since it does not have a document, the municipality and the beautification organization do not help to restore and revive it. This incident leads the residents of the house to decide to sell it and we will witness the some events.

Is the idea of writing this play  based on a real event or is it derived from your imagination as a writer?

When I was a child, there was a garden near our house that some people settled in after the owner traveled abroad, and after many years, due to the inability of the owner and heirs to return, the residents built the garden and became the owner of the property. The main root of the story was formed from it, but the rest of it is completely created by myself and imagination as a writer.

Is the "House" your first experience as  a playwright?

The play is the first  one I wrote after completing a specialized course in playwriting. The play definitely has some problems considering its first experience, which I hope the audience will forgive me for. Of course, "House" is my third public performance after the shows "Theatrical Company" and "Just a few moments to think?" And it is the fifth show that I’ve  directed.

What is the style and performance of the show based on?

The work is a situational comedy and it has  a realistic narration. Since I have a lot of interest and love for Iranian shows, in this show I have used the principles and methods of Takht Hozei, siah Bazi and Iranian shows in general.

Where does this love for Iranian shows come from?

Interest in ritual and traditional shows goes back to my childhood. I grew up in Lalehzar and Iranian theater is woven into my heart, and whatever I do, I return to Iranian theater. My father was an actor in the Kasra Hall, now known as Oswe Dar Lalezar, and I used to sit and watch the works since I was a child, but my father never wanted me to enter the arts. He  always hoped that I would study in another field, but when I was accepted to the university and studied theater, he did not object anymore.

To what extent can theater be the narrator of the society?

We all hope so. If you look at theater as a pastime, then it is definitely not time to perform in the current situation; But if you look at theater as thought-provoking art, it is the time for shows to perform. Even though it is hard for us to say some things and sometimes we have to change.
