Harold Prince nabs Monte Cristo award
Director-producer Harold Prince will receive this year's annual Monte Cristo Award from the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center of Waterford, Conn. for his lifelong contributions to the American and international theater.
Prince will receive the award at the center's New York gala April 5 at Bridgewaters at the South Street Seaport in Manhattan. Composer Stephen Sondheim will present the award to his longtime friend and colleague. Prince has received 21 Tony Awards, six Drama Desk awards, the National medal for arts and was a Kennedy Center honoree.
Previous winners have included Edward Albee, August Wilson, Wendy Wasserstein, Neil Simon, Jason Robards, Zoe Caldwell and Kevin Spacey
