Anton Chekhov’s “A Marriage Proposal” to go on stage

Iran Theater- The third play-reading session of the humor office of the Hoze Honari will be held on the 27th of May, in the Sooreh Hall.

Reza Gilanpour, the director of the performance, announced: "A Marriage Proposal" is a play-reading work. About 6 players read the parts, and one of them may be entrusted with the task of making music.

The director stated: The original play belonged to "Anton Chekhov" and Azim Mousavi had a free interpretation of it.

 

 

A Marriage Proposal is a one-act farce by Anton Chekhov, written in 1888–1889 and first performed in 1890. It is a fast-paced play of dialogue-based action and situational humour. A young man Lomov comes to propose his neighbour Natalya but they both keep on fighting on various topics.

 

Anton Pavlovich Chekhov was a Russian playwright and short-story writer who is considered to be one of the greatest writers in the world. His career as a playwright produced four classics, and his best short stories are held in high esteem by writers and critics.
