Religious-Ritual Plays Need Financial Support

Karim Akbari Mobarakeh said that ‘Rahmard’, which had focused on Ta’zieh passion play, could attract the audience, stressing that the country’s religious and ritual plays needed investment.
On the sideline of watching ‘Rahmard’, which is directed by Hamed Hoshyari and is performed at Plateau Ejra, Mr Mobarakeh told Iran Theater that the play was included elements of Ta’zieh, which attracted spectators warmly.
“People like this kind of theater even if it has repeated theme,” he said, adding that Ta’zieh reminds people of Ashura day when the third Shia Imam Hussein was martyred in the battle of Karbala and Hamed Hoshyari used it successfully in his ‘Rahmard’.
About National Mourning Event of From Ashura to Arbaeen and its status among the audience, Mr Mobarakeh said that the number of plays doubled compared to a year before showing that people and artists welcomed it warmly.
