Culture Minister at Media Exhibition:
Theater to Have More Supports

Seyyed Abbas Salehi, minister of culture and Islamic guidance, said at a gathering at the 23rd Media Exhibition in Tehran, that new debates had been underway over the past two months to increase state supports for theater.
The minister, who visited the exhibition on Sunday accompanied with Hossein Entezami, his deputy for media affairs, said that the government was facing economic woes but efforts had been exerted to increase theater budget, Iran Theater reported.
Theater had been so broadly dynamic that it could not handle budget shortage anymore, the official said, adding that talks were underway to increase its state supports.
Theater is an art, which should have both the support of private sector as well as the backing of the state, Salehi stressed, praising the move taken by the private sector to open theater halls in Tehran.
He hoped that private investors to build new theater halls in other cities too.
Artists, officials and lovers of theater are welcomed at the stand of Iran Theater at the exhibition until November 3.
Visitors can take a look at the weeklong exhibition, which was opened on Saturday, from 9 am till 8 pm.
