An Interview with Neda Shahrokhi, Director, Playwright & Director of Fanous Theater
'The Conference of The Birds', a Joint Iran-France Production to Stage at Mowlavi Theater

Neda Shahrokhi, young director of theater and Fanous Theater, has been active in the field for years. She has tried to have joint performance with the Europe's leading countries in theater. She holds a master's degree in theater from Paris University. She has been teaching at the universities.
Shahrokhi has directed some plays such as 'Adam Is Adam' and 'déjà vu'. She has successful performances in Europe for plays such as 'Antigone'.
Her last international presence was with 'Medea'.
Shahrokhi told Iran Theater that her group performed 'Medea' in three cities of Greece while 'Antigone' had been performed in Greece before.
She explained that 'The Conference of the Birds', a joint production of Iran and France, would be performed at Mowlavi Theater. Shahrokhi will co-direct the piece with Yassaman Khajehi and La Nef president Jean Louis Heckel.
Jean-Louis Heckel, the former director of École de Charles de Mésier and the current director of Nef Theater Company, was invited to Iran by Fanoos-e-Honar-e-Pars Institute. He instructed two courses at Fanoos and at the end of the second workshop, he directed the primary part of 'Conference of the Birds, Attar' with the students as their final project. This play will be produced as a cooperation between Fanoos and Nef and will be performed in Iran and France.
Shahrokhi added that the play was adapted from 'Mantiq-ul-Tayr' (The Conference of the Birds', written by the Persian poet Farid ud-Din Attar.
The director said that the piece would be performed in Iran and several European countries next year, adding that most performers of the performance would be her students including Ava Tadayon, Elmira Shofteh, Pegah Ebrahimi, Arefeh Sadegh Mohammadi, Niki Saghari.
