Mehran Nael:

'Little Bahman' in Canada in Spring

Iran Theater: Mehrdan Nael, director, producer, actor of theater, television and cinema, is a graduate of acting from the Fine Arts University of Tehran University. He holds a masters' degree of direction from Tarbiat Modarres University. He has cooperated with noted figures such as Hassan Fathi, Farhad Mohandespour and Mohammad Mahdi Asgarpour for years.

Mehran Nael directed 'Little Bahman' last year. He staged the play again at the then newly-opened Pardise Shahrzad Theater Complex.

His career includes 'Night Bus' by Kiumars Pourahmad, 'Kimia' and 'Soil' by Abbas Rafei, 'The Interpretation of Dreams' by Reza Dadouei, 'Doors & Curtains' by Siamak Kashefazar, 'Paper House' by Mahmoud Moazzami, 'Dance in Fire' by Moharram Zeinalzadeh and 'A Bit Late' by Rama Ghavidel.

Nael told Iran Theater that he would take 'Little Bahman' to Canada in Spring after its two successful performance in which Mohammad Bohrani, Amir Soltanmohammadi, Mehdi Shahpiri and Mehran Nael starred. Amir Zaghari designed the set and Nima Nazemi made the music.

He added that the play would have performances in Vancouver and Toronto, stressing that his aim of direction was to connect with Iranian expats rather than financial benefits.

Nael explained that 'little Bahman' was based on the off-the-cuff dialogues and revolved around addiction, which is not only a problem in Iran but also all over the world, adding that the play was a social comedy.

Nael said that he was starring in 'Silent Coffin House' at Hafiz Theater Complex, adding that it had a surreal ambience and he was playing the role of Milad Kiaei, a government employee whose job had left him with a troubled mind.

Nael concluded by talking about his part as producer of 'Abji', a revered play which was recently staged at Qashqaei Hall of the City Theater Complex' and directed by Mehdi Shahpiri, saying that the play would be re-staged at a private theater complex this year.
