Mohammad Nahavandian Urges Fast Allocation of Annual Theater Budget

Mohammad Nahavandian, vice president for economic affairs, watched Khayyam Puppet Opera on the night day of the 36th Fadjr International Theater Festival on January 26.

Behrouz Gharibpour is the director of the opera, Iran Theater reported. Nahavandian praised the puppet opera and its director after watching the play and then visited puppets of Aran Theater Group on display at the museum.

Nahvandian told reporters after visiting the museum that he had become familiar with works of Gharibpour before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, describing anti-violence theme of Khayyam Opera as shining.

Asked whether theater budget could be allocated sooner no matter how much its amount is, vice president said that there are obstacles in the way of allocation of the budget but administrative procedure should not delay cultural and art activities. The budget must be injected in compatible with delicacies of the works by artist and creativities, which do not have time.

Nahavandian promised to make changes in the Management and Planning Organization and Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to facilitate allocation of theater budget.

He stressed that theater budget should not freeze and Khayyam Opera increased his motivation to follow it.
