Iran Theater: Maryam Shoghi is one of leading figures of puppetry, who is living in northern Iran over the past few years. She continues her artistic activities there. 'Nanny Sea's Daughters', 'Desire for Peace', 'Magic Box' and 'Khejalatabad' are among her works, which have received awards.
'Nanny Sea's Daughters' was awarded the best play of Tehran International Puppet Theatre Festival while 'Desire for Peace' received prize from Lahijan Street Theatre Festival.
Shoghi told Iran Theater that she was teaching theater in the city of Roudsar after change of my living place to northern Iran over the past two years, adding that 'Desire for Peace' also took part at the Lahijan Street Theater Festival in the summer, which had features of children theater and her students played in the show.
"About 30 children at the age bracket of eight to 16 years old starred in the show," Shoghi explained.
She said that she had started her classes at Roudsar Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults but it was expanded to other cities and towns of Gilan province.
Shoughi said the courses had been on puppetry and acting while environmental theater lessons that could help students, adding that the students would take courses during three months of summer and top trainees would continue the teachings.
The classes was hold in cities of Langeroud and Rasht while the students in Rasht had been more advances, she said, adding that the classes had been held under supervision of the Dramatic Arts Center of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and Shoghi was a member of Gilan Performing Arts Association.
