I would like to be a pioneer in teaching

 

Alireza Koushk Jalali is born March 21, 1958 in Tehran, Iran. He is an Iranian theatre director and playwright and Translation. Currently he resides in Cologne, Germany, where he also made his first German production in 1986.

 

Alireza Koushk Jalali should be regarded an international theater artist rather than an Iranian one. He has been writing plays in German language.  He has performed more than 45 shows in Germany and has four published plays in German language. He has a group in Cologne called 'Ali Jalali Ensemble'.

His play 'Barefoot, Naked, a Heart in Fist' received award in Germany. It has had more than 650 performances in Germany, Switzerland, Ukraine, Burkina Faso, Russia, the US, Iran and Turkey. It received an honorary prize in Cologne in 2016.

Koushk jalali have staged 'M. Ibrahim and the Flowers of the Koran', 'The God of Carnage', 'The Gronholm Method' and 'Postman: Pablo Neroda' in Iran in the past.

Koushk-Jalali has staged 'Waiting for Adolf' in Iranshahr Theater Complex. It was warmly welcomed.

The play 'Waiting for Adolf' – and adaptation of 'What's in a Name?' by Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte –is translated and directed by Koushk-Jalali.

He has traveled to Iran for several days .He is busy with the production of Monsieur Ibrahim in Rasht these days.

The following is excerpts of an interview with Koushk Jalali by Iran Theater.

 

He says about his goal of traveling to Iran: I held two workshops on art, health and creativity in Tehran. Then I went to Tabriz to work with the creative artists of Tabrizi to perform the final exercises on the Grön Helm system. The show has been on stage for a week and, thankfully, has been welcomed with great flair. Now I've come to Gilan. In Rasht, with the artists of this city, we have screened the "Monsieur Ibrahim", which is based on the play by Eric Emanuel Schmidt.

 

“I have always been trying to focus on education as far as I can. I decided to become a pioneer in education in the cities instead of having a workshop in Tehran. I try to teach my knowledge by holding workshops and to stage some play with local artists. I hope to improve their knowledge. I'll be back to any city whose artists are interested in attending my workshop and invite me. In these few years, I think I have not traveled to only 3 provinces and I have visited many cities like Tabriz, Karaj, Rasht, Kashan, Kerman, Ahvaz, Amol, Yasuj, Bandar Lengeh, Gorgan, Rasht, Shiraz, Ardebil, Khoram Abad, Langrood, Nowshahr, Bandar Deir and ... to study. As I said, my goal is to train in Iran . Familiarizing the theater artists with the new methods of directing and acting is my greatest pleasure, and this is the factor that brings me to Iran. Meanwhile I learn a lot from Iranian students and their creations.In other words, I take a low budget work experience, with love, and improvisation from Iran to Germany. and bring new methods of directing and acting and ordering from Germany to Iran.” Said he about his motivation
