Competitiveness of the festival is motivated

Iran Theater- Maryam Ziaei is a Designer &Director of E-Horse which is going on stage at  The 17th International Puppet Festival.

E-Horse has an ancient Story: In the court of the Persian king, the Parsi medic gives the king an e-horse as a gift, so that he may be able to propose her daughter in return for the horse. Hormuz, the king's son, rides a horse to test it. But he does not know how to ride it. The medic approaches the horse and twist’s the horse's ear. The horse rises and takes Hormuz with him. Hormuz discovered the horse's secret in the sky. He lands in the palace of the Yemeni kingdom and instantly falls in love with Parizaad, the daughter of the king of Yemen, and this is the beginning of a love story full of travel sigh, love, and envy.

Maryam Mansouri is playwright and Mostafa Darabi is composer.

Maryam Ziaei believes that Competitive festivals are the best that can increase the enthusiasm and motivate for  the puppet theater activists.

E-Horse is a selected work of the playwriting contest at  The International Theater Festival for Children and Youth, and Ziaei intends to run it for adult audience with some changes.

she says:” The fact that the play was one of the selected works   at  The International Theater Festival for Children and Youth, it  shows that it has a very good stuructue. And when we decided to run it  for adults, we made changes to the text and  used the "Thousand and One Nights stories. In this way, we added Shahrzad and some of the concepts that I wanted, so that the theme of love highlights. The original theme was separation.”

Maryam Ziaei addes:” In the original play, Story happened in the Rome, and the Roman king imprisons Parizad, but according to the stories we have in the "One Thousand and one Nights Stories", we changed it so that story happens in Yemen.”

 

The 17th Tehran-Mobarak Inrernational Puppet Festival  takes place  from August 23rd  to 29th, 2018.
