Iran Theater-Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be going on Stage at Tehran_Mobarak 17th International Puppet Festival. Fariba Daliri is director and the playwright.

Roald Dahl was a British novelist, short story writer, poet, screenwriter, and fighter pilot. His books have sold more than 250 million copies worldwide. Dahl's short stories are known for their unexpected endings, and his children's books for their unsentimental, macabre, often darkly comic mood, featuring villainous adult enemies of the child characters. His books champion the kindhearted, and feature an underlying warm sentiment.

Dahl's works for children include James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The Witches, Fantastic Mr Fox, The BFG, The Twits and George's Marvellous Medicine. His adult works include Tales of the Unexpected.

Faribia Dalir and Hadi Hasanali wrote the play Based on same story by Roald Dahl. Sheyda Safavi is Puppet & Set Designer. Charlie and The Chocolate Factory is about Charlie who is a kind, brave and honest young boy .He wants to prepare himself for the most exciting adventure of his life.

Fariba Daliri  says:” I've come to the conclusion that fantasy works are appealing to children and young adult, so I always look for fantasy play. The reason I emphasize because the children and young adult theater is in competition with cartoons and T.V animations. Children attracted to cartoons and animations, because they are fantasy, and if we want to bring this attraction to the theater, we should focus on this subject and do not end up with dialogue to read the tales. Roald Dale's famous work has this feature and I decided to invest on it.”

Fariba Daliri Thinks that it should be used different puppet Theater techniques to create charm

“I have been thinking about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for a year and in my mind I designed every second of the performance. I have used three kinds of techniques: projection, puppetry and live performance. I used mixed puppet techniques. At the beginning of the when Charlie was dreaming, we used a shadow doll, when we entered Charlie's house, at this part performance is completely real. After he enters the chocolate factory, other techniques applied.”

The 17th Tehran-Mobarak Inrernational Puppet Festival  takes place  from August 23rd  to 29th, 2018.
