Family Album is a Tragedy

Iran Theater-"Family Album"  has been on stage since the 3th of September in Hall 2 of Nofel Loshato Theater Complex. This show is about the father whose death ceremony is taking place and his family gathered for the ceremony  during the medieval.

Saeed Hashemzade , the playwright and director of the "Family Album" in a conversation with Iran Theater said about the idea of writing this play: "the idea of writing this play  came to my mind by reading a book entitled "The Death Date". During the study of this book, which narrated about death in the Middle Ages, I became very involved and realized that these narratives are largely close to the customs of our culture. I also realized that I could use these narratives to form a solid and powerful story".

He added: "The set of ideas and sub plot of this play is about the matter of death. In our own culture, we are confronted with the fact that when a believer feels his death is near, he informs his family and brings them together; this is also in Christian culture.”

The theater director spoke about how to narrate this play:” The structure of the play is completely narrative and follows a specific story. If we want to identify this as a genre, it is more of a tragedy than anything else, but nevertheless it is far from realistic performances. Despite the use of numerous narratives, the show has no collage or postmodern style. The shaping of the boards in this show has a special style. In fact, the basis for the formation of boards in this show is a dramatic gesture based on medieval and classical paintings, and the performances and mise-en-scene are based on the compositions found in these paintings.

At the end Saeed Hashemzadeh said: Music plays a significant role in this show. With the study of Renaissance music, tones and dialects of compositions of that period were used which plays an important role in the situation.
