Mehdi Soltani to become King Lear

Iran Theater- Mahdi Soltani, well-known actor, will act as King Lear which is directed by Masood Delkhah.

Masood Delkhah said: After Bahareh Rahnama and Elham Pawenejad in the role of Lear's daughters, Mahdi Soltani joined the cast.

Describing the presence of Soltani in the television series "Father" and winner of the Best T.V Actor award in the 18th Hafez Awards for “Shahrzad”, added that Mehdi Soltani, as an influential actor in recent years, has been is selected among several candidate.

King Lear is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare. It depicts the gradual descent into madness of the title character, after he disposes of his kingdom by giving bequests to two of his three daughters egged on by their continual flattery, bringing tragic consequences for all. Derived from the legend of Leir of Britain, a mythological pre-Roman Celtic king, the play has been widely adapted for the stage and motion pictures, with the title role coveted by many of the world's most accomplished actors.

Delkhah explained:” Playing in the main roles of Shakespeare's work, it needs to have an acting experience, knowledge and abilities that, along with the mastery of literary works, will  lead the actor towards achieving the lean moments of the work of this master.”

King Lear will run at the City Theater Complex  in mid November.
