Sima Shokri: The quality and type of role is important

Iran Theater-Sima Shokri has acted in “Wire and Purl”. The show is an admirable attempt to approach the Iranian native theater –siyahbazi- and   theme of love. An experienced theater actress, Sima Shokri, has been able to present  two different characters (contemporary and past) in the show. During her acting career, she has worked with such great figures as Davood Fathalibeigi. There are various performances in her acting resume. “Wire and Purl”, a latest production of Naghahan Group Theater, has a complicated and musical narrative which starts from Pahlavi Dynasty  to present time. Roozbeh Hossieni is playwright and director of “Wire and Purl” which is on stage at Tehran’s City Theater Complex nowadays.

Sima  Shokri said about her cooperation with Roozbeh Hosseini:” This is my second collaboration with Roozbeh Hosseini . Our first work was a play Reading. Wire and Purl went on stage last year, we have restaged it at Sayeh Hall in  City Theater Complex. The good and important feature of collaborating with this group is that both I and the director are aware of each other's work and characteristics, and we benefit from this mutual recognition in order to provide better work.”

She said about playing various roles in the theater:” For me, the quality and type of role is important , and how much can I represent my ability.”

Sima Shokri went on to tell about playing in Iranian traditional shows:” I have had some experience in Iranian traditional shows with Davood Fathalibeigi. However we us Iranian instruments and Iranian traditions in  “Wire and Purl”. The use of non-traditional instruments also displayed a fascinating harmony in the musical section of show.”
