Iran Theater- Mir Kamal Mir, director of the show "Rostam and Sohrab," in a conversation with the Iranian theater, said: The main function of the show, as a health promotion project, was to strengthen self-esteem among the clients in the first place.
The show "Rostam and Sohrab" directed by Mir Kamal Mir Nasiri has been played on the stage with perfromances of 30 people with disabilities and clients of Kahrizak Charity Foundation since November 11th at Vahdat Hall. This show is a result of the experience of the director's 18 years of theater therapy and 9 years of practice with a number of physical and psychological abilities of the Kahrizak Charity Hospital.
He commented on the process of preparing this work, which lasted for almost 9 years:” The client who play in this work have different literacy and education, and since the show has a difficult text, prepares them for understanding the text and preparing the show for a professional performance would take a long time. Because of their physical condition, we got concentrated to it and did intensive exercises, which was also one of the reasons for the length of the preparation process. But perhaps the most important factor in long preparation process was that most of these friends did not have the confidence and self-esteem to appear in a professional show, and it would not be possible to achieve this naturally within a short period of time. Essentially, the main function of the show as a Theater therapy project was to strengthen these aspects among the clients.”
Mirnasiri also described the play :”I wrote it, when I was only 16 years old. At the same time, I sent the text for the playwriting competition section for the Fadjr International Theater Festival, which was nominated for the drama award. I remember the day I went to the closing ceremony of the festival, the barracks prevented me from entering the hall and did not believe that a sixteen-year-old boy would have been nominated for a prize.”
