After forty years the stage is still attractive to me

Iran Theater- After 40 years, Habib Esmaeili returns to the stage with “slowly with roses “. He is best known as a cinema actor and films producer, while he was a devoted stage actor during 70’s.

Habib Esmaeili has many memories of his acting in theaters. He has acted as Mr.Deylami in Akbar Radi’s “slowly With Roses” which has been on stage in Sangelaj Theater Complex during these days.

Hadi Marzban has directed it with   some professional and famous players such as Mitra Hajjar, Sam Qaribian, Fariba Kowsari and Mohamad Hatami.

Akbar Radi  is one of the famous playwright whose plays have Iranian elements. Akbar Radi wrote “Slowly with roses” at 80’s.It’s about the social challenges of a wealthy family who works in Bazar during Islamic Revolution of Iran. Habib Esmaeili acts as a Father of the family.

After 40 years, you returned to the stage with slowly with the roses; Compared to 70’s, what has been changed in the theater?

- The conditions of the theater have undergone many changes in recent years. With the creating of numerous private halls, more theaters have been run. On the other hand, the quality of the shows has also improved. The good reception of the people also shows that the theater has found its place.

After these years what was the long and hard rehearsal for you?

- It was very enjoyable. On the first day of the rehearsal, the good memories came to my mind.  Before performance we have rehearsal every day from 3 to 8 P.M.

Did you follow the director's works?

-Yes, I often saw his works. It's a good chance to get back to the stage. I had seen theater in Sangelaj Theater Complex, and this time I was on my own. I think Akbar Radi’s play was very comprehensive and well-versed and addressed the social challenges properly.

Have you already played in Akbar Radi’s plays ?

-Of course. I acted in “the Death in autumn” before.

In the works of Radi, fathers often play a role in creating drama, is this the same in Slowly With Roses?

- Father has no negative personality and his actions are justified, and every person has a strength and weakness.
