Guard at Taj is a play by Rajiv Joseph.Kazem Nazari said:” the story occurred in 1648 during the reign of Shah Jahan, one of the Mongol kings. In this play, the story of the construction of the Taj Mahal years by Master Isa Shirazi and twenty thousand workers narrated. Taj Mahal has known as the most beautiful shrine and the symbol of love in Indian history.”
The Story occurred in India 1648. The dawn will reveal for the first time the extraordinary beauty of Taj Mahal, built as a tribute to the ruler's wife, who demanded its construction. But for two hapless imperial guards, the morning light brings with it an impossible task that will shake their faith in God, the empire and their lifelong friendship. This boldly funny and deeply moving play examines the true meaning of beauty and the cost of transcendence in a world that confuses the value of both.
Rajiv Joseph (born June 16, 1974) is an American playwright and a 2010 Pulitzer Prize finalist.
About author’s notion ,director of show said:” According to the criticisms written about the play, the author's aim is perhaps to point out the beauty and construction of such buildings that have been made with the plight of many workers who are no longer alive, and the name of them has not been recorded anywhere in history But they have immortalized beauty for future generations in various forms of art, including architecture, music, sculptures, and so on, and created these masterpieces not by the kings, but by workers and architects who are from the lower class of society and who suffer in every effort to succeed.”
