Jean Genet’s The Maids goes on stage

Iran Theater- Jean Genet’s The Maids which is directed by Darya Daryaei will go on stage at Entezami Theater Hall,artist Forum since Jan.17.

The Maid by Jean Genet translated to Farsi by Medya Kashighar.

Jean Genet (19 December 1910 – 15 April 1986) was a French novelist, playwright, poet, essayist, and political activist. Early in his life he was a vagabond and petty criminal, but he later took to writing. His major works include the novels The Thief's Journal and Our Lady of the Flowers, and the plays The Balcony, The Maids and The Screens. The Maids is about Solange and Claire , two housemaids who construct elaborate sadomasochistic rituals when their mistress (Madame) is away. The focus of their role-playing is the murder of Madame and they take turns portraying both sides of the power divide. Their deliberate pace and devotion to detail guarantees that they always fail to actualize their fantasies by ceremoniously "killing" Madame at  the ritual's denouement .
