Behrooz Gharibpour, the well-known puppet show director, who has produced and directed 10 pink operas based on the Persian literary masterpieces, will run Love Opera at the Fadjr Theater Festival.
He said about his latest work:” Opera needs poetry and my goal is to use the masterpieces of literary poetry.”
He mentioned about the story of this dramatic work: In Rostam and Sohrab, I used a story from Ferdowsi, "Laili and Majnoon" was also an east classic story that was addressed in the poetry of Mohammad Baghdadi and Nezami. "Sheikh San'an and Christian girl" is also a poet by Farid al-Din Attar Neishabouri, which is unique in terms of story shape. This story is so valuable that it needs to be further addressed.”
Gharib Pour equated this dramatic poem with Goethe's "Faust" and admits: From the dramatic point of view, this work is superior to Fawcett, because there is no evil in it that deceives Sheikh San'an. The events occurs inside of the characters. In Attar’s story, Sheikh San’an lost his soul but he insists on the path of love and the beloved aspirations, he ultimately leads the girl to the thought of himself. A story that is all about human knowledge.
He explained about the opera's music: "Because of the type of music that should be westernized, both eastern and Iranian, I had to find composer that knew eastern and western music as well. patrol of the, I found Karimi, although he had no experience of writing opera, but he was capable of pop music.”
