Mohamad Qasemi directs “Fatherland” which is based on Medea. He adopted Medea to Iranian culture and tradition. “The Fatherland” is on stage at City Theater Complex.
About free adoption of Medea , Mohamad Qasemi said:” Every actor and director would like to do a show based on Medea at least once during his career, because it's one of the best tragedies in the world of drama literature, and I used it. In Medea, there are characteristics like revenge, anger and greed and so on. From the beginning of creation, man has been involved in these kinds of traits and will be involved forever and these things has no expiration date. One of the tasks of the theater is to try to present these kinds of traits in a dramatic way and to deal with its harmful aspects.”
Apparently, part of the story is based on a real-life murder story in one of Tehran's neighborhoods.
He said:” Yes, two years ago in Azadi Settlement , A woman killed her husband because of unfaith then she Kills her two children.”
