The theater depends on the audience

Iran Theater-Babak karimi, famous editor, cinema actor and stage director believed that the nature of theater depends on the presence of the audience , so You can't rely too much on online  or filmed theater  .

He directed the show “Alviera 2020” two months ago at City Theater Complex but It was canceled due to coronavirus pandemic.

In an Interview with ISNA agency he explained his point of view about closing of Theater Halls and the proposal of the Performing Arts Office of the Municipal Cultural and Artistic Organization to shoot shows on the Tehran Theater Hall and broadcast them online.

He said:” I myself had an idea like finding a place to have an online performance (virtually) every night, but the reality is that the nature of theater depends on the presence of the audience and we can't play in an empty hall for ourselves because the presence of the audience’s very effective, so I gave up on the idea, although I'm heartbroken why we didn't do that " before it stopped.”

Karimi noted that he inforemd through some of his foreign friends and colleagues, the theater in Europe is currently closed, and some artists only record monologue at house and then publish it on personal account in  social networks.

“It is possible to film the shows to some extent, as some groups have sets that remain in the halls where they were performed and cannot be moved. Of course, it is not possible to say whether this proposal is correct or not, because the problem is to see what we can do in this situation, even in a situation where we do not have much choice. However, in my opinion, this can be suitable for numbers of troups , although it is not ideal.”
