UNIMA World Congress to be postponed

Iran Theater- Ardeshir Salehpour said :” Due to coronacirus pandemic , UNIMA World Congress was postponed to next year.”

Ardeshir Salehpour, Head of UNIMA Iran – Mobarak UNIMA announced that according to the decision of the Secretary and members of Directors of UNIMA , World Congress, which was scheduled to take place from April 16 to 19 in Bali, Indonesia, due to the widespread spread of coronavirus in the world, it was canceled and postponed until next year.

He added:” UNIMA World Congress is held every three years in one country, and the latest situation of puppet shows with the presence of the Board of Directors, representatives of global centers, consultants, managers of various sectors

 in various cases, discuss and exchange views and general decisions.”

Mobarak UNIMA is the Iranian Centre of UNIMA whose activities were revived in 2010.

It has established offices in the Iranian provinces of Gilan, South Khorasan, Golestan, Hormozgan and Qazvin. It has also set up an office in Deh-Cheshmeh, a village in Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province.

UNIMA was founded in Prague in 1929. In 1981, the French puppeteer Jacques Félix moved UNIMA's headquarters to Charleville-Mézières, France, location of the Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes since 1972. UNIMA is affiliated to UNESCO and it is a member of the International Theatre Institute.
