Popular Theatre play competition will be held

Iran Theater- The first edition  of  Popular Theatre Playwriting Competition will be held in two sections:  Coronavirus pandemics and  free topics.

This competition will be organized by Mehr Nowruz Cultural and Artistic Publishing House and Koushk Jalali Educational Foundation with the participation of the Scientific Association of Iranian Art Research, the Iranian Playwriters Association and Iran and Germany Culture Centers.

"Popular theater" genre, which is the backbone of European theater, is a theater that can communicate with different strata, from different intellectual and cultural bases.

Popular Theater is not so intellectual that only a small number of audiences understand it, nor are all boulevard theaters whose only purpose is to entertain or just laugh.

Examples of this type of play include the works of Sophocles, Euripides, Shakespeare, Moliere, Chekhov, Brecht, Neil Simon, Jasmina Reza, and others.

In cinema, Charlie Chaplin's films are a clear example of this artistic genre.

When Alireza Koushk Jalali received the German popular playwriting Award in 1999 for his play "Barefoot, Naked, Heart in a Fist", he was determined to establish such an award in Iran to reconcile a wider range of people with an educated, committed and progressive theater.

The first edition of this competition will be held in cooperation with Mehr Nowruz Cultural and Artistic Publishing House  ,  publisher of  Alireza Koushk Jalali’s works in Iran.
