Possibility of starting street performances in white areas and Tehran province

Iran Theater-Qader Ashna, The director general of the performing arts said that he was looking forward to the Ministry of Health's decisions on theater, adding that if theater festivals were not held, the budget could be allocated to support theatrical activities.

Qader Ashna said previously that By the end of Ordibehesht(May 20), the condition of festivals and  shows will be determined.

He with some theater officials had a meeting with the Coronavirus Fight National Headquarters. Qader Ashna offered to hold theater festivals and public performances. The officials of the Coronavirus Fight National Headquarters vowed to  make decisions  until May20.

He added:” In the General Directorate of Performing Arts Center, we have three different ideas for holding festivals; Cancellation of festivals, merging or holding them according to the conditions.

Mobarak Theater Festival, which was scheduled to take place in August, we decided that it would definitely be postponed and merged with the FADJR Theater Festival, but the discussion of holding this festival independently or as part of the FADJR Theater Festival continues. We are now investigating.”

Ashna also explained about holding FADJR International Theater Festival: In the artistic deputy of the Ministry of Guidance, we had reached a conclusion about holding it, but we are waiting for the announcement of the Ministry of Health about how to hold it.”

He announced the readiness of street theater groups to perform in Tehran and the white areas and added: "In the meeting we had with the Headquarters, it was announced that the performance of street theater and even stage shows with health principles in white areas is not an obstacle." In this regard, a number of artists are calling for street performances in Tehran and other provinces, and we are waiting for the expert and accurate opinion of the Ministry of Health.”

 

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on that all areas of the country would be categorized according to the coronavirus morbidity rate and the extent of outbreak in order to define various restrictions and better deal with the COVID-19 threat.

The Health Ministry was drawing a map to define the white, yellow and red zones according to its criteria.
