Mariwan Street Theater Festival will not be canceled

Iran Theater- Abidelah Rostami, director general of Kurdistan's Islamic Culture and Guidance, said the Mariwan Street Theater Festival would not be canceled. But due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, the way the festival is held is changing.

Referring to yesterday's announcement by the General Directorate of Performing Arts  Center that  the center will not support Marivan Street Theater Festival and Hamadan Children and  Young Adult Theater Festival due to the outbreak of the corona virus, he explained the establishment of this edition of Marivan Theater Festival.

He said:” The issue is not the lack of support from the General Directorate of Performing Arts of these two festivals, but the fact that these festivals have a very good  history , and Marivan Street Theater Festival has become an national and international brand , However, due to the current circumstances the main rule is that all of us should be concerned about the health of the people and the health protocols.”

He added:” the quality of the festival is really important , so when domestic and foreign groups are not able to attend this event and we are constantly afraid that someone will not get sick or spread coronavirus and have a bad memory of attending Marivan. It is not possible for us to hold the festival in the previous way.”

At the end he emphasized:” We are not looking to close any cultural activities, but we need to think about new ideas and plans that, while holding the festival, nobody’s health be in danger.”
