Julian Garner's "Awakening" to go on stage in Qashqai Hall

Iran Theater- The play "Awakening" directed by Davood Daneshvar started its performance on Sunday, September 6, at the Qashqai Hall of the City Theater complex with a discount for the first days.

The play "Awakening"  is produced by the Aieen" cinema-theater group, written by Julian Garner and directed by Davood Daneshvar.

The show started  with the memory of the late Ghodratullah Salehi ,a member of Aieen  Cinema-Theater group.

The story  is about Johannes who  is serving a life sentence for murder. Released on parole from an abusive prison system, reformer Agnes secures him a place working on a remote farm. Here he unwittingly becomes embroiled in an old, unresolved grudge.

 

Julian’s twenty-odd plays have been performed widely in England and Scandinavia (where he has spent most of his adult life) as well as Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Canada and the USA.  He was awarded the Ibsen Prize in Norway for The Awakening.  In the UK his work includes: Golden Leaf Strut (The Bush), Cyril’s Little Moments (Bristol Old Vic), Guardia Angels (Coventry Belgrade) The Flight Into Egypt (Hampstead Theatre).

 

He has spent several periods as writer on attachment at the National Theatre Studio, where he developed Silent Engine and completed The Bear Table for the International Connections Festival.
