Memorial ceremony of Abbas Javanmard to be held

Iran Theater-Abbas Javanmard’s memorial ceremony will be held on Monday in the open air of Vahdat Hall.

According to Iran Theater, the commemoration ceremony of the late artist Abbas Javanmard will be held on Monday, October 5, at 15:30 in the open air of Vahdat Hall.

Toronto-based Iranian stage director Abbas Javanmard, the pioneer of teleplay in Iran, died of heart failure at his home in the Canadian city on Monday. He was 92.

Abbas Javanmard was a graduate of dramatic arts from the University of Tehran and established Hanare Melli Group (National Art Group) in 1955, which gave numerous outstanding performances in the country.

AbbasJavanmard organized courses at the Iranian television organization, training many students that were employed in the teleplays he directed.

 The first tele-theater in history which broadcast on Iranian national television was  "Margaret" written by Arman Salacrou , translated by Shahin Sarkisian and directed by Abbas Javanmard.

He directed plays such as "Golden Viper" and "Perverted Nightingale" by Ali Nasirian; "The Story of the Hidden Moon", "Sunset in a Strange Gift" and "Pahlavan Akbar Dies" by Bahram Beizai; "The City of the Moonlight" and "The Tale of the Silk and the Fisherman's Spell" written by Ali Hatami .

 

He was also the writer of several  books, including “An Introduction to Tazieh and National Play”
