I’ll direct “The House of Bernarda Alba”on Qeshm Island

It will be a loosely adaptation from Sara Afshar a young stage director and actress.

 

The House of Bernarda Alba is a play by the Spanish dramatist Federico García Lorca. Commentators have often grouped it with Blood Wedding and Yerma as a "rural trilogy.

About her latest show,Asfhar talked to Iran Theater website. She explained :” I have been living in the south of Iran , Qeshm Island for nine months Since the coronavirus outbreak, and I tried to keep in touch with the theater by teaching theater and acting to teenagers and young people.  I had a different experience. After an educational term, I directed the play "Family" written by Mohammad Mosawat in the village of Haft Rangoon. Of course, this  was a loosely adaptation and i adopted it according to the culture of the south and with the theme of patriarchy.”

She added:” Considering the capacities and potentials in the meetings that I had with Omid Almasinia, the head of Qeshm Islamic Guidance Arts Affairs, he promised support and cooperation and I am trying to get a license to establish a theater school. In addition, Mr. Almasinia promised To provide us with the theater hall of Qeshm Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, which has a capacity of 250 spectators.”

Regarding the performance of the play on Qeshm Island, she added: "We have been rehearsing the play for some time."

About conditions of the theater and the  online performance, Afshar said: "Any action that makes the theater artists work is significant. The important thing in theater is the direct connection with the audience, which does not exist in online show and  it is more like a tele theater or a tele-film.”
