Ayad Akhtar’s Disgraced comes to Tehran

Iran Theater- The play "Disgraced" written by Ayad Akhtar and directed by Farhad Shantiaei has been on stage at Iranshahr Theater Complex.

Disgraced is a 2012 play by novelist and screenwriter Ayad Akhtar. It premiered in Chicago and has had Off-Broadway and Off West End engagements. The play, which won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, opened on Broadway at the Lyceum Theater October 23, 2014.

 

“Disgraced” written by Ayad Akhtar and co-translated by Kamal Abdi and Shirin Salimi and directed by Farhad Shantiaei and produced by Saeed Roustaei, goes on stage every night at 21:45 in the Samandarian Hall of Iranshahr Theater Complex.
Saeed Roustai is a will-known screenwriter and director.

  The story is about Amir Kapoor who  has turned his back on his upbringing in pursuit of the American Dream—he's married to a beautiful woman, lives in a luxurious Manhattan apartment and is eyeing a lucrative promotion at his powerful law firm. But when Amir hosts a dinner party for his African American co-worker and her  husband, the initially pleasant evening erupts into a volatile argument over race, religion and class in the modern world.
