The play "Pure Madness", one of the most popular comedies in Europe and the best play of 1982 in England, shows the atmosphere of a theatrical group during a rehearsing. The members of the group try to create order from within the existing chaos. But with each action they take, Things are getting worse. we also see a pure anarchy.
Alireza Koushk-Jalali believes that The theme of "Pure Madness" is universal and about humans. It can happen anywhere: London, Tehran, Tokyo, Cairo...
He mentions a quote from Nietzsche and the influence of Charlie Chaplin about choosing a comedy play:
Maybe it's because Chaplin had a great influence on the formation of my artistic vision, maybe unconsciously this quote from Nietzsche often comes to my mind: "Man is the only animal that laughs; "It is only human who suffers greatly and has to create laughter." Maybe I believe that great pains cannot be cried: there is a smile on the face of Christ on the cross and on the face of Chaplin on the stage. Aristophanes, the father of comedy, is the greatest comedian of ancient Greece and traces of politics can be seen in most of his plays. His comedies are progressive, surprising, exceptional and very effective. He criticized all social, economic or political aspects of society: "Bees" is a protest against the Athenian autocrats' bribery of judges and juries. Aristophanes' comedies invite everyone to peace and strongly condemn war.
Alireza Koushk-Jalali, refered to the comedies of Shakespeare, Moliere, Chekhov : The comedies of Shakespeare, Moliere, Chekhov... is a declaration of war against superstitions, petrified intellectual and social systems! Obeid Zakani, the famous Iranian poet and humorist , mercilessly criticized the wrong customs and habits and corruptions and disadvantages of a certain class of society with his humor.
He also mentions” Takht Hozei “as a kind of joyful show that has a history of several years in Iranian shows.
He also praises Martin McDonagh. "Martin McDonagh is one of the most prominent Irish writers in the field of comedy theater. Humor, violence and sadness are three important elements of Martin McDonough's works.
He quotes Neil Simon, the father of American comedy playwriting, and in other words, the king of comedy theater.: “I want to tell stories about people that are bittersweet like life itself."
Alireza Koushek-Jalali says that most of the plays I directed were actor-oriented, The cast of Pure Madness were chosen in the usual process of casting and with prior knowledge.
