Tehran International Puppet Theater Festival was postponed to spring 2023

Iran Theater-The 19th Tehran International Puppet Theater Festival was postponed to the spring of 2023 in order to provide students, other audiences, and especially those interested in all provinces with the opportunity to observe, learn and synergize through dialogue and criticism.

The 19th Tehran (Mobarak) International Puppet Show Festival  was postponed to the spring of 2023 based on the request of Hadi Hejazifar, the secretary of the 19th edition of the festival and with the approval of Kazem Nazari, the general director of Performing  Arts Center.

Hadi Hejazifar explained the reasons for this decision and pointed out that Tehran International Puppet Theater Festival is a valuable heritage: "Considering  all aspects, such as talking to the groups, professors and puppet show artists and members of the Puppeteer’s Association of Iran, I believe that holding the festival now will be lost due to technical reasons such as the lack of continuous rehearsals of the groups, the impossibility of the participants and the audience enjoying local and international shows, the impossibility of the participation of the private sector due to the coincidence with FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and etc."

Hijazifar believes that holding an incomplete festival at a time when the goal of the Department of Performing Arts Center is to promote and develop puppet shows, will deprive us of many benefits of this festival. He hopes that by changing the time of the 19th Tehran (Mobarak) International Puppet Festival and holding it in the spring of 2023, we will witness a glorious international festival and provide an opportunity for students and other audiences, especially those interested in all provinces, to observe, learn and synergize through dialogue and criticism.
